January 30 - A new security measure is added to the website. Roblox implements new lighting technology into game clients, which is called Horizon-Based Ambient Occlusion. Roblox created a new official French version of their Twitter account. This was done most likely from the years of complaints of users trying to get Roblox to remove botted clothing from the avatar shop. January 25 - The avatar shop removed almost every bot clothing from the past (for some users). This update has already caused criticism on social media. January 20 - The upload and selling fees change is being rolled out for some users. An update was announced for Roblox Studio which will make the keycodes the same as the Roblox client. Roblox begins to roll out a darker shade for avatar headshots. January 18 - The Rthro game category was removed. 
January 15 - Attributes were put into beta for Roblox Studio.January 14 - The Favorites and Recently Played games category was made into separate categories for some users.January 13 - Roblox created a new official Japanese version of their Twitter account.January 12 - Phantom Forces becomes the 23rd game to reach 1 billion visits.This update has sparked criticism over social media.
January 7 - The combined Favorites and Recently Played games section update was rolled out to users worldwide. January 6 - Roblox combines the Favorited games section on the user's home page into the Recently Played games section for some users. 
January 5 - A new teleportation API was released into beta.
